Three brothers from Kiev, Moses, Samuel, and Louis Gladstein were part of the early Jewish immigration to Durham. The Gladsteins all lived along Pine Street in the late 19th and early 20th century; in the 1910s, Jewish families (as well as Greek families) moved into the area between North Roxboro and Holloway Streets. By 1915, Louis at 306 Gray Avenue.

Bungalow with a side gabled roof with eave brackets, a shed dormer, end chimney, 4-over-1 Craftsman sash windows, engaged porch with Craftsman posts and plain railing, and full aluminum siding. 1925 CD: Dr. A. E. Rigsbee owner-occupant. Dr. Rigsbee lived here until at least 1950.

Brick 1 1⁄2-story Tudor Cottage with front-gable roof and shed dormers along both side elevations. On the front is a recessed, round-arched entrance and a gabled screened porch. The upper front gable overhangs as a jetty, with a dropped pendant. Other features are a front bay window with 4-over-4 sash, 6-over-6 sash windows, and stuccoed finish on the gable end and shed dormers. Built for the Bass family ~1928.

William S. Griswold House. 2-story side-gable brick Colonial Revival- style house with exterior end chimneys, a 1-bay entrance porch with triple colonettes and a pedimented roof, and 6-over-6 sash windows. The left 1-story wing is brick; the right one is weatherboarded. William S. Griswold, president of Griswold Insurance Agency, was the owner- occupant in 1935. [1935 CD]

Side-gabled 1 1/2-story Tudor Cottage with a front-gabled wing, a plain entrance, weatherboard, 6/6 sash windows, and a front chimney. The house is apparently present on the 1937 Sanbom Map, although it is labeled as 1012 Englewood Ave.

Two story colonial with combination gambrel pent roof, large shed roofed dormer across front of house. Main body of house is rectangular with wing on side. Aluminum siding. One story frame cottage. Steeply pitched clipped gable roofline. Built in early 1920s by Henry Pickett, an accountant for Sea- board Railway. Restored in 1980.
