This house was the home of Clyde Lorimer Vickers, spouse Ruth Terrell Vickers, sons Lorimer T. and Anthony M. Vickers. Ruth Vickers 1912-1994 lived there until her death in December, 1994 and the home was sold ending over 60 years of occupancy by the Vickers family. Clyde L Vickers 1907-1964 was the son of Clyde Durham Vickers, and grandson of William Gaston Vickers who gave much of Forest Hills, the land for Vickers Avenue to the city. The street was named for the family at his request. Living son of C L Vickers, Anthony M. Vickers 1936- ----, now living in Milton, Florida provided this information. Further, the gifts to the city information was provided on August 3, 1976 in an article in the Durham Morning in a published interview of Claude Vickers, the executor for William Gaston Vickers. Claude Vickers was last living son of William Gaston Vickers.

Just after entering my comments I found Clyde L Vickers birth certificate. He was born June 5 1907. The address listed on his birth certificate was 1212 Vickers Avenue. The home was in the family before or just after the turn of the century and was inherited by Clyde Lorimer Vickers from his father Clyde Durham Vickers. Entered by son Anthony M Vickers on 9-28-14.
