Sherron House #2

Pyramidal  cottage with a hipped dormer window and engaged porch. Alternations include replacement smaller sash windows, replacement porch posts, and all-over vinyl siding. 1930 CD. NC-alt.

Spurgeon and Bartley Sherron purchased 411 and the adjoining lot, 409, from the Durham Land and Security Company in 1923. Surgeon was a lumberman and Bartley was a farmer. The Sherron family was originally from the Oak Grove Township, and Sherron Road, running from Highway 70 and Highway 98, is named for them. 411 and 409 were constructed circa 1923 and served as rental property until 1975 when the property was purchased by William H. & Sandra Bass Newman.
