Good eyes!! That is certainly the Chesterfield sign. Must be W. Main.

Is that the Chesterfield sign in the background?Might be on W Main ,East of the old Coca Cola bottling

If the mystery is the precise location, I can think of two ways to research it. First, if the '8' on the engine refers to station number and not engine number, then that should narrow down the geographical range. Second, look in a business directory from the early 1960s for business names starting with 'BER...'

The '8' on the engine I believe does refer to the Engine Co. number becuase Station No. 8 was to organized until 1976. Engine Co. 8 was however housed at Station No.3 during this time period.

It's me again. Durham library website. Go to NC collection photo archives enter og011.

B&H Tire Co. was on N.Roxboro Rd. next to Berry's grocery store. Berry's was located in the building Currant's cafeteria is in now 3002 N.Roxboro Rd.
