1 1/2-story Period Cottage with a side gable roof, a front gable wing, and a front chimney. The porch has triple boxed posts and a roof railing. A side shed porch is screened. The exterior combines plain siding, board- and-batten, and wood shakes. Windows are 6-over-6 sash.

1940 CD: Commodore Council Jr. owner-occupant. The Theodore Minah family lived here for most of the house's existence. Minah was food service manager at Duke University.

The Durham Morning Herald reported on November 11, 1937: "A building permit was issued yesterday to C. T. Council, authorizing construction of a residence at 2117 Club boulevard to cost $9,800. The dwelling will be built by C. A. Herrin from plans drawn by R. R. Markley, architect. It will be for one family, with eight rooms and basement. It will be two stories high and of frame construction."
