
Robert L. Lindsey is noted as a proprietor of the Model Steam Laundry and "general manager, co-founder, and attorney" for the Durham Public Service Company from 1899-1949.
He was noted as "a Durham man by birth" and a member of the Board of Aldermen, representing the second ward. Also general manager and president of the Durham Traction Company. His great nephew notes: "he was an avid golfer. As president of the West End Land Co. he lead development Club Boulevard . Robert was also a charter member of Hope Valley Country Club. He served as president of the chamber of Commerce as well as the board of Watts Hospital.
