William Kenneth Boyd (1879-1938) was a historian, professor, and director of the library at Duke University. During his career at Duke and Trinity College, he published widely and helped to collect and preserve personal papers and books about Southern and North Carolina history.
Boyd's work is of particular interest to Durham historians, as he published the second 'proper' history of Durham, entitled "The Story of Durham: City of the New South" in 1925. Although unfortunately unfootnoted, it is a unique source for several elements of the Durham story.
