Built during the 1930's at the intersection of what is now Maxwell St and Campus Dr, the Carpentry Shop was where Duke staff built and repaired cabinets, furniture, and flooring for the various buildings on campus. These operations moved to a building about one-tenth of a mile away at the intersection of West Pettigrew St and Sumter St. in 2011.
