Cozart Avenue

Cozart Street / Avenue / Alley is named for Thomas G. Cozart, partner in a short-lived tobacco company of the 1880s whose property line was coincident with the later street; a series of large houses on deep lots fronting East Pettigrew Street predated the establishment of the Hayti commercial area. The landowner lot lines lent their names to the later perpendicular streets.
