Joseph Ange House. Tudor Cottage with side-gable roof, gabled front wing with end chimney, a front wall dormer, 6-over-6 sash windows, and German siding. The corner entrance porch has paired posts and a metal railing. 1955 CD: Joseph G. Ange owner/occupant (pastor, Edgemont Free Will Baptist Church).
I assume that this house was built as a parsonage for Edgemont Free Will Baptist Church, as city directories list numerous pastors at Free Will Baptist Church as occupants of this house.
The most notable pastor that resided in this home was Joseph Ange, who went on to serve on the Foreign Mission Board for Free Will Baptists and as president of Southeast Freewill Baptist Bible College in TN.
Durham County tax records show that this home was built in 1947, although it doesn't appear in city directories until the mid 1950s.
