The home at 214 N. Dillard was owned by my great great uncle Robert Lee Lindsey . He was general manager , co-founder and attorney for Durham Public Service from 1899-1949.  He was also president of Durham Traction Co. , the trolly business. He was an avid golfer. As president of the West End Land Co. he lead development  Club Boulevard . Robert was also a charter member of Hope Valley Country Club. He served as president of the chamber of Commerce as well as the board of Watts Hospital.

His brother Wills C Lindsey was president of Lindsey Insurance located at 123 W Main . The family main house was located at 611 S Duke St. where Kate Lindsey lived until her death.

Today the Lindsey's are still in the insurance business near Club Boulevard at 1852 Hillandale Rd. and live in the National Historic section of the  Hope Valley neighborhood.
