(Below in italics is from the 2004 East Durham National Register listing; not verified for accuracy by this author.)

A. Cleveland Marshall House. Pyramidal cottage with 12-over-1 sash windows, a door with sidelights, a front gable, and a wraparound porch with replacement metal posts. The side porch area has been enclosed. The house is sited on a large corner lot. 1930-1940 CDs: A. Cleveland Marshall owner/occupant (conductor, Southem Railway system).

What is now called the Southern Railway system is the merging and/or reorganization of over 100 southern passenger and freight lines and companies. Mr. Marshall may have worked out of Union Station or perhaps the Norfolk Southern Railroad Station

This is one possible route A. Cleveland Morris may have taken daily as a conductor (completely speculative).    For more information on former NC railway lines click here.
