The Durham Hosiery Mills Dye House was built in ~1925. It remained operational for a very short period of time -  like most branches of the Durham Hosiery Mills, it was shuttered in the 1930s - between 1934 and 1938. (It is listed as vacant in the 1938 city directory.) It remained vacant for quite some time; by the late 1940s, it was in use by the Farmers' Mutual Exchange, located across the street.

Today it is occupied by the Durham Food Bank.
